Ready to ditch the desk and work with your hands? Behind the Design is looking for a motivated, energetic Installer to join a  close-knit, upbeat team in Powhatan, VA. In this role, you'll be out in the field each day transforming homes with custom blinds, shades, draperies, and shutters. 

We’ll provide the tools and training—you bring the can-do attitude and attention to detail!

What You’ll Get:

• Full time, W2 employment
• Strong Compensation: $25–$30/hour (experience dependent) + Potential for Merit Based Bonuses
• An Ideal Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30am–4:30pm (or occasionally 7:30am–3:30pm)
• PTO: 5-10 days in year 1 
• Paid Holidays: 7/year

What You’ll Do:

• Travel to job sites within a 30-60 mile radius of our Powhatan warehouse to customer's homes
• Install window treatments, ranging from blinds, shades, shutters, and draperies to motorized products
• Read work orders and remeasure windows, follow a clean prep and completion process and ensuring cleanliness and accuracy
• Demonstrate agility in varied settings, problem solving per space and customer need
• Troubleshoot onsite or product issues with confidence and creativity
• Deliver friendly, professional service to every customer
• Assist in load in/load out for each appointment, maintaining necessary product on hand and upkeeping the organization of our Powhatan warehouse

Must Have Qualifications:

• Is comfortable using hand and power tools
• Has experience with and knowledge of basic carpentry skills 
• Has a strong, natural sense of precision, craftsmanship, and problem-solving
• Enjoys physical work and being on the move
• Is capable and agile lifting 60+ pounds, climbing ladders, and standing on their for feet much of the day. 
• Is reliable, personable, and adept with customers

• Experience in installation experience, particularly with window treatments. 
• Experience with schematics through work such as precision carpentry, millwork, or closet installation. 
• A demonstrated track record with in home appointments and time management 
• A thirst to grow into a lead or management role with us over time
